Can We Declare The War On Al Qaeda Over? -- Mary Habeck, Shadow Government/Foreign Policy

Peter Bergen has a new piece up on CNN's website that argues the United States can declare victory over al Qaeda and wind down the war against the group. Reading through his article, I found several places where I profoundly disagreed with his analysis and therefore with his overall conclusion that al Qaeda has been defeated.

First, Bergen begins with a false analogy by arguing that the current war is nothing like World War II, and that therefore there can be no culminating peace as was signed between the Allies and Nazi Germany. This argument implies that a definitive victory over al Qaeda, one on the model and scale of the victory over the Nazis, is impossible.

My Comment: I have a mixed opinion on this subject. A part of me accepts the argument that Al Qaeda has been significantly degraded .... that many of the founders are now dead or in jail .... and the effectiveness of the organization to conduct serious attacks is now minor if not insignificant. Another part of me has a different point of view .... Al Qaeda enjoys the support of tens of millions of people, they operate with impunity in many failed states, and their ideology of spreading jihad and Islam has not been sufficiently countered.

Which point of view is right? If there are no major terror attacks (or attempts) in the next few years .... one can then make the argument that Al Qaeda as we know it is no more.

HAZIRLANIŞI

Baklaları iyice ayıklayıp yıkadıktan sonra 1 limon suyu ve bir tutam tuzla oğuşturarak kevgirde bırakın. Çentilmiş soğanı ayçiçek yağında hafifçe öldürün. Bir kaşık unu su ile karıştırıp soğanlara katın, baklaların üstünden bir su geçirip, fazla limonu akıttıktan sonra tencereye ilave edin. Bir bardak suda erittiğiniz şekeri de buna ekleyin. Tuzunu ilave edip, karıştırdıktan sonra tencerenin kapağını kapayın ve kısık ateşte, kapağı bir daha açmadan pişirin. Tencereyi ateşten almadan iki dakika önce kıyılmış dereotunu serpin.

 Here is the reason why the Luftwaffe is not available, At the end of this turn Al will get to call on his Air Support to hot things up for my forces.

 Al has a Squadron of RA Achilles Tank Destroyers at the head of his column. For the game since they were fighting around some bocage type terrain we applied a sub-rule that only the Churchill Infantry Tanks could access the bocage and smash their way though it. The TD's were able to go into the fields but really could only go though gates to get out of them. So Al decided to let these RA boy's to guard the road and act as a battering ram (I think?). Above wanting to make up for the loss of the Recon Platoon Al directs the entire Squadron into the crossroads. One Battery heads to the Bridge while one Battery turns left to stop the Germans coming down the road. The Command Stand wisely (As it turns out) acts as a reserve.

A roar of sound and fire envelopes the Battery heading for the Bridge with the 20mm Flakvierling 38 Platoon spewing out 2400 rounds a minute into the targets. Utter silence as I roll the dice...Target destroyed...I have warm dice and these Achilles are not tanks!

ayrı bir kapta haşlanan patatesleri rendeleyelim. hepsi soğuduktan sonra patatesler ve bulgurlu harcı yoğurmaya başlıyoruz un salça tuz ve kimyonuda ekliyoruz kıvama gelene kadar yoğuruyoruz. yoğurma süresi biraz uzun :)
